One design system across web, iOS and Android

A shared component library that replaced three separate design files and cut six weeks from every release cycle.

01. Challenge

Three platforms, three designs, three sets of bugs

Cadence's web, iOS and Android apps were designed and built separately. The same feature looked and behaved differently on each, and every release meant reconciling three sets of design decisions before engineering could start.

02. Approach

Design tokens first, then components, then screens

We started with a shared token layer for colour, type and spacing, then rebuilt the core components once with platform-specific rendering. Screens were redrawn from those components so consistency came from the system rather than from review.

03. Outcome

One source of truth and much faster releases

Feature releases now ship six weeks faster on average, because design and engineering start from the same library. Visual bugs reported across platforms dropped by more than half.
